Behind the Name

The Meaning Behind TERANGEAR™

At TERANGEAR™, our name is more than just a label—it’s a reflection of identity, culture, and purpose.

The first part of the name, TERAN, is inspired by the word Teranga, which means hospitality in Wolof, a language spoken in Senegal. Teranga represents a deep-rooted cultural value of warmth, generosity, and community—so much so that Senegal is known as The Land of Teranga. It's also the spirit behind the nickname of the national football team, The Lions of Teranga. This sense of welcome, pride, and belonging is something we carry into everything we create.

The second part, GEAR, draws from the world of sports and street culture. It represents equipment, but also style—the kind of apparel that speaks to who you are, both on and off the field. “Gear” means more than just uniforms; it is a symbol of unity, identity, and swagger.

By combining these two worlds, Khadeem Kujabi—Founder, Creative Director, and Owner—brought TERANGEAR™to life: a brand that blends heritage with style, tradition with performance, and meaning with movement. It’s a brand rooted in culture, driven by self-belief, and built through hustle—created for those who carry their story with pride and wear it with purpose.

Just Believe.
